Johnson Hall opened in August 2009 and is UMKC’s first facility named for an African-American. It is a part of the huge legacy Herman and Dorothy H. Johnson left to the Kansas City area.

With space to house 329 students, the four-story residence hall features two wings of semi-suite, double- and single-occupancy rooms connected via a glass-encased corridor.
