VOORHEES — A baby girl born just a few minutes after midnight was the first in South Jersey to greet 2021 on New Year's Day.
Aniela weighed six pounds and 10 ounces at birth at 12:05 a.m. Friday at Virtua Voorhees Hospital, said hospital spokesman Daniel Moise.
The child's name means gracious and merciful, according to a Virtua statement.
Aniela, who arrived a day earlier than her due date, is the daughter of parents Kirsten and Pablo of Clementon. The hospital withheld their last name for privacy reasons.

Aniela is the couple's third child. She has a 6-year-old brother and a 2-year-old sister, according to Virtua.
Virtua also delivered New Year's Day babies at its hospitals in Camden and Mount Holly.

His parents, Tanequa and Tyrone, are Glassboro residents with two other children, 7-year-old Khamari and 6-year-old Shawn.
In Mount Holly, a baby named Demir arrived at Virtua Memorial Hospital at 4:09 p.m. on New Year's Day. He measured eight pounds and 2 ounces and 21 inches long.
'His mother Hulya and father Timucin of Mount Laurel were delighted to welcome their second child,' said a statement from Virtua. Demir has a three-year-old sister, Vera, who was also born at Virtua Memorial.

London Grace Mitchell was the first baby of 2021 in Gloucester County, arriving at 1:07 a.m. at Jefferson Washington Township Hospital in Sewell, said Nicole Pensiero, a spokesperson for Jefferson Health New Jersey.
She identified London's parents as Amanda and Malcom Forbes of Clayton.

London was dressed in a 'onesie' suit made by delivery nurse Jill Reilly, who creates a new “fashion statement” every year for the hospital’s first baby of the New Year, according to Pensiero.
